COMMUNITIES

Woodside is a wonderful town where horses seem to outnumber cars on the local roads. Many homes feature large lots and barns, giving a truly country feel. There are some nice community shops and restaurants; you can ride in and tie your horse up in front. Oaks and pines line the meandering roads. Some of the best parks are found in or around Woodside, including Huddart Park and Wunderlich. I love to hike in these hills with my husband and friends. Many folks will brave the windy King’s Mountain Road to get to the King’s Mountain Art Fair on Labor Day weekend. Robert’s Market is a terrific place and well known for excellent groceries and treats. There are some wonderful trendy restaurants in Woodside, and some quirky places too (like Buck’s), and some restaurants that are well established. We often stop at The Little Store for a quick al fresco lunch. At dinnertime, it is worth a drive up to Mountain House, among the redwood on Skyline, for excellent cuisine and country atmosphere. Save a place by the fireplace for me!
